Working with Risk Projects

The tools and manuals were published by OLM-Pavilion in June 2007, and the following organisations have engaged further Practice Based Evidence support:

Northamptonshire Healthcare NHS Trust

Commenced in April 2008, a programme of 3.5 days service and practice development to support the implementation of the ‘Working with Risk’ tools across mental health and learning disability services. An initial programme briefing for service managers was followed by a re-drafting of the Trust Risk Policy, then focusing attention on groups of team managers as key people to support the new expectations for effective implementation organisation-wide.

Coventry & Warwickshire Partnership NHS Trust

Commenced in July 2008, a programme of 6 days service and practice development to support the implementation of the ‘Working with Risk’ tools across adult mental health services. An initial programme briefing for service managers was followed by re-drafting of the Trust Risk Policy, followed by a series of team manager briefings, exploring how service managers can establish a Risk Management Group to review difficult cases, and working with an identified group of local practitioners/managers to provide a core team supporting the roll-out and review of team training & development.

Milton Keynes Learning Disability Service

A programme of two training days across March/April 2009 to support implementation of the ‘Working with Risk’ tools and the concept of positive risk-taking, with additional comment on a locally drafted Risk Policy based on the ‘Working with Risk’ manuals.
